Avalanche Danger in Bansko

All riders heading out to Bansko need to be extra careful as conditions are currently unstable.

The Bulgarian Information Agency “Focus” reports that three Greek skiers have triggered an avalanche when trying to reach the slopes in the Echemishte area. One member of the group was buried but was luckily dug out from his companion who stayed behind, while the third skier set out to look for help. All three skiers managed to leave the site with no major injuries.

The Mountain rescue service warns of high avalanche risk in the Bulgarian Pirin Mountains and have asked skiers not to leave the designated slopes.
